A lot of couples ask me, “Where’s a good place to take engagement photos in the Bay Area?”
There are so many beautiful locations in San Francisco — from beaches and city parks to mountain trails and historic landmarks. But the best location is the one that feels like you. Choose a place that has meaning to your relationship — maybe the beach where you love to walk your dog, the trail where you had your first date, or even the spot where the proposal happened.
For Ebru and AJ, the Conservatory of Flowers in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park was the perfect choice. After moving in together and transforming their home with new plants and landscaping, they discovered a shared love for gardening. It made perfect sense to start their engagement session surrounded by lush greenery, vibrant blooms, and the stunning architecture of the Conservatory.
Their session was full of color, laughter, and little details that reflected who they are as a couple. And because they both love skateboarding, we wrapped up the shoot with some fun, playful shots that captured that side of their relationship too.
The Conservatory of Flowers truly offers one of the most unique backdrops in San Francisco for engagement photos — it’s romantic, creative, and full of natural beauty year-round.
If you’re looking for engagement photo ideas in San Francisco, consider the Conservatory of Flowers — especially if you love vibrant colors, greenery, and a relaxed, nature-inspired vibe.
Tips for a Successful Engagement Session at the Conservatory of Flowers
Planning your engagement session at the Conservatory of Flowers? Here are a few things to keep in mind to make the experience smooth and fun:
You don’t need a photography permit for casual sessions, as long as you don’t bring any lightning equipment and props, handheld camera only.
Everyone entering must have an admission ticket. You will need to be mindful of other visitors — that means no blocking walkways and keeping gear to a minimum so everyone can enjoy the space.
Because the Conservatory is filled with tropical plants, it’s quite warm and humid inside, even on cool San Francisco days. I always recommend dressing in light, breathable clothing (yes, even in winter!) and bringing blotting paper or a small towel for touch-ups. A little bit of prep goes a long way in keeping you comfortable and photo-ready.
I’d love to help you plan your session and make the experience fun, relaxed, and memorable from start to finish. Book your engagement session here!
