Marine’s Memorial Club Wedding | San Francisco Photographer

I had the absolute pleasure of photographing not one, but two weddings for Brittany and Michael—exactly one year apart, both on December 29. That is how you guarantee you never forget an anniversary! Their first celebration took place at the iconic San Francisco City Hall.  A venue known for its grand marble staircase and soft, natural light. They looked incredible that day, so I wondered how they could possibly out-do themselves the second time around.

From City Hall to a Grand Downtown Celebration

For their anniversary wedding, Brittany and Michael chose the historic Marine’s Memorial Club & Hotel in the heart of downtown San Francisco. Located just steps from Union Square, this landmark venue offers sweeping city views, elegant ballrooms, and classic architecture—perfect for a romantic winter celebration.

As an East Bay wedding photographer who frequently photographs in San Francisco, I love the Marine’s Memorial Club for its warm ambience and flexible event spaces. The club’s historic charm blends beautifully with modern amenities, giving couples a timeless backdrop for both intimate gatherings and grand receptions.

A Day Full of Romance and Fun

Brittany looked every bit like a Disney princess, and Michael was her perfect prince. From their first look in the library to their joyful walk down the aisle, every moment overflowed with love and laughter. The candlelit ceremony highlighted the elegant details of the Commandants Room, while the golden glow from the chandeliers added a cozy winter vibe.

A Reception to Remember

The reception took place in the club’s Crystal Ballroom, where guests enjoyed stunning city views through tall windows and danced beneath sparkling chandeliers. Tables overflowed with winter florals and soft candlelight, creating a romantic atmosphere that matched the holiday season.

And then came the show-stopping highlight: the cake cutting. Brittany and Michael didn’t settle for an ordinary cake knife—they used a sword! Watching them slice into their wedding cake with a gleaming blade was a true fairy-tale moment and had everyone cheering.

Why I Love Photographing at Marine’s Memorial Club

Photographing wedding at Marine’s Memorial Club is a dream. Stunning interior in multiple rooms allows for beautifully elegant photos without even stepping outside, which is something to consider if you are planning to have a winter wedding. Also the club’s staff is incredibly helpful, which makes the day run smoothly for everyone. From elegant getting-ready suites to spacious ballrooms, every detail supports great photography.

As an East Bay wedding photographer who specializes in San Francisco celebrations, I’d love to help you plan photography that matches the magic of your day. Whether you’re dreaming of a formal downtown wedding or an intimate City Hall ceremony, I’ll guide you through locations, timelines, and lighting so every image feels timeless.

Celebrate Your Love in the City by the Bay

Brittany and Michael proved that love deserves to be celebrated more than once. Their Marine’s Memorial Club wedding combined elegance, history, and a touch of playful adventure—right down to the sword-cut cake.

Since the couple decided to do a two hour “cocktail hour” after family and wedding party photographs we were able to drive to Palace of Fine Arts and Grace Cathedral for additional photos of bride and groom.
